DONALD SCOTT

May 25, 1938–June 27, 2019

Donald Scott, 81, of Newcastle, Wyo., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 27, 2019.

Donald was born May 25, 1938, to Madge and Ralph Scott in Fall River County, about 13 miles south of Pringle, S.D. He attended school in Hot Springs and Edgemont, S.D. While growing up he helped his parents farm and ranch. He enjoyed music, playing guitar, piano, and the clarinet. He also called dances in the surrounding area. He loved to dance.

After high school he did ranch work and construction. Construction brought him to Newcastle where he met his future wife, Milly McVay, at the ticket booth of the drive-in theater. Don and Milly married Jan. 5, 1963. They raised three children. He drove truck for Johnson Fuel Liners. In the 1970s he became a pit mechanic at Jacobs Ranch Mine and retired from there in 2001.

His family said, “We love and will miss you Dad, and that mischievous grin. All his life he enjoyed farming, leather craft, wood working and working on vehicles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s Lodge. He was proud to be Grand Master of Wyoming and traveled the state. He loved any excuse to travel, even delivering cherries and peaches to surrounding areas. He was always there for family and friends, night or day.”

Donald is survived by his brother, Gerald Scott of Custer, S.D; his three children, Patricia (Clinton) Whitney, Donald (Bobbie Jo) Scott, and Cody (Mandy) Scott; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.

The family requests that memorials be made in Donald’s name to benefit the Weston County Senior Services Center. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Meridian Mortuary, 111 S. Railroad Ave., Newcastle, WY 82701.
