Unfortunately, we broke it

We unfortunately have to announce that our inaugural “Best of Weston County Contest” has come to an end a couple of weeks early after we encountered problems with our website.

And as luck would have it, two of our three remaining contests have ended in a draw!

It should come as no surprise in a town that has been served so well for so long by two great banks that those banks would end our first contest in a dead heat, as Pinnacle Bank and First State Bank tied for the county’s best bank, financial or insurance business after nearly two full weeks of voting.

And after only a week before the voters, 21 Electric and Mountain View Plumbing & Heating were tied for the top spot for Weston County’s best contractor, construction or home improvement business.

And our other winner, after almost three weeks of voting, was A-1 Agency for Weston County’s
best realtor.

We thank everybody, businesses and readers alike, for participating in this summer’s contest, and hope you all had a little fun with our informal and unscientific polls. We’re sorry the contest had to come to an end early, and will see if we can find the issue and address it
 moving forward.

In the meantime, school is starting — which means sports will be making a return to the News Letter Journal’s sports section every week. And we’ve got plenty of great news coming out in the News Letter Journal every week as we cover local news and entertainment.

Thanks for reading and for participating in our contest. Have a great week!
