TRAVIS J. STEVENSON

Sept. 20, 1983–Sept. 5, 2023

A Celebration of Life gathering for former Newcastle, Wyoming, resident Travis Stevenson, age 39, will be held Thursday, Sept. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Michaels Room, Weston County Senior Center, Newcastle.  

Travis James Stevenson died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at his home in Annapolis, Maryland. 

He was born in Newcastle, Sept. 20, 1983, the second son of Ken and Janice (Nelson) Stevenson.

He is survived by his mother, Janice Stevenson of Rapid City, South Dakota; sons, Kenyth and Andryk Stevenson of North Carolina; brother, Justin Stevenson (McKaylia) of Newcastle;  numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his very special friend and supporter, Tammy Howard of Annapolis; as well as many, many friends.

Preceding him in death were his father and several aunts and uncles.  

Attending Newcastle schools, Travis excelled at math and began developing his artistic talents at an early age. He was especially ingenious drawing intricate tattoo patterns and similar types of drawings for his family and friends.

Travis worked with numerous companies throughout the country, always interested in developing new skills and improving himself.  Employment as a heavy equipment operator brought him great satisfaction. He was working for Main and Market in Annapolis at the time of his death, and had just received a full college scholarship.

Fishing and more recently the addition of kayaking were his favorite outdoor hobbies.  

As Travis worked to overcome his own personal adversities and setbacks, he felt called to reach out to others, offering his encouragement and testament of his own progress and success. His compassion and joy for life was ever present.
