Spreading holiday cheer

It is clear to see the holiday season is upon us and all of us at the News Letter Journal felt the holiday spirt last week as we were able to visit with many of you at a variety of
different events.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, it has been hard to feel the excitement that usually comes with the holidays but this year it was evident that Weston County is ready to see past the last 22 months and move foward together as a community.

Whether it was open houses, the festival of trees or the lighted parade, residents came out in full force to support others in the community. It was amazing to once again feel the closeness of our small rural community while celebrating and enjoying a variety of people and organizations.

The News Letter Journal even jumped on the bandwagon, hosting an open house to thank Leonard Cash for all his hard work over the years. It is a true testiment to what a rural community can do to keep their history alive and we couldn’t have completed the task without his help.

As we continue to enjoy the holiday cheer December brings, we would like to encourage the public to continue to support the many events that are scheduled for the following weeks including three different school concerts, the Christmas Cantata and bell choir performance and the Methodist Church’s childrens shopping day.

And most importantly, as you prepare to celebrate Christmas in a few short weeks, do what you can to support local businesses. Now more than ever it is cruicial to keep dollars local and support the local businesses that have done all they can to offer the goods and services Weston
County needs.

Once again, it was amazing to see all of you out and about! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
