Fort Collins, Colo. - (Sept. 26, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirl golf squad had a historic opening day at the CSU Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic on Monday opening the first two rounds of play with record low team and individual scores. With one round left to play three Cowgirls currently sit inside the top 25.
“What a fantastic day to see it all come together for the team. It takes a different type of patience and confidence to stay under and around par all day. I’m just so proud of them all.” Head Women’s Gold Coach Josey Stender said, “Sam really buckled down and finished strong in round two, a testament to her process and leadership.”
Jadan Gonzalez led the standout day for Wyoming posting back-to-back under par rounds finishing the day with a score of 141 (-3) and currently sits in a tie for eighth. Samantha Hui posted the best round of her career in the second round of play shooting a 68 (-4) tying the school record set by Gabrielle Gibson in 2019. Thanks to her record-tying round, Hui finished the day tied for 11th. Kyla Wilde also finished the day inside the top 25 tying for 17th after two rounds with a score of 144 (E). Morgan Ryan and Jessica Zapf round out the Cowgirl lineup finishing the day tied  for 26th and 46th.

With their record setting day, the Cowgirls currently sit in fifth with a total score of 574 (--2) sitting four strokes ahead of sixth place Boise State and trailing fourth place GCU by just two strokes.
