Cowboys Drop Road Dual against No. 16 Northern Iowa

Cedar Falls, Iowa (Jan. 5, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowboy wrestling squad opened their Big 12 road trip in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Thursday night taking on No. 16 Northern Iowa. The Panthers won the dual 33-3, but No. 19 Hayden Hastings (174) picked up a win to bump his career total to 103, now sitting just one win away from moving into a tie for 17th in the UW record books in all-time career wins. 
No. 19 Hastings took the mat against Northern Iowa’s Carson Babcock in a match the Hastings controlled early. He jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a take down and near fall points before Babcock mounted a comeback. After giving up a late takedown, Hastings dug deep and held on for a gritty 4-3 victory to give the Pokes their lone win of the evening.  
Job Greenwood (133), Cole Moody (165) and Mason Ding (285) each went up against top 15 opponents and each of them put together gritty performance coming up just short in very tightly contested matches.  
The Pokes will now head to Ames, Iowa to cap off their road trip against No. 3 Iowa State on Saturday, that dual is set to begin at 1 p.m. MT.
