Notes from the July 5, 2023, meeting of the Weston County Commissioners
• The Board of Weston County Commissioners voted to get a speed study done on Kenwood Drive to establish a speed limit (see “Dangerous curve noted,” News Letter Journal, June 29, 2023, page 1.). Weston County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Fields reported that the department recommends that a three-way stop be put in. According to Chairman Ed Wagoner, Road and Bridge had already installed one stop sign and that the department would be informed of the recommendation.
• The board agreed to pay $250 to the Weston County Fairgrounds for use of the Weston County Event Center after a bill was given to Weston County Extension for a board training requested by the commission. It was noted by fair board member David Kline that 4-H and Extension events had not previously been charged for use of the facilities, while Commissioner Don Taylor said that payment should be made to balance budgets. Kline said the board would be discussing these issues and fee schedules in the future.
