A few years ago, Cedar Pines Golf Course and Country Club was operated by the Upton Golf Association, according to Roxanne Duarte, a member of the current Upton Golf Association. However, two years ago, three other individuals, Neil and Victoria Shiller and Jory Hillman, decided to take on the task themselves, Duarte said.

Current club house manager Theresa Kangas, hired by the Upton Golf Association, said that in April, the trio did not renew the lease on their private ownership and operation of Upton Golf, LLC. With the closing of the course looming, the Upton Golf Association was formed once again by volunteers passionate about golf in Upton who want to revive the course.

“I hope (the golf course) never has to close,” Duarte said.
