Only two weeks remain before the State Meet, which means time is of the essence for the Dogies to qualify. At their last regular season meet last Friday and Saturday in Gillette, nearly every swimmer picked up personal best times in individual events and put the possibility of earning a state berth within reach.
“We had a lot of improvements this weekend,” head coach Doug Scribner exclaimed. “We have a couple of guys who are now within a second of qualifying, and I think we gained some confidence after we saw how much better we did compared to earlier.”
Austen Kenney set a PR in the 50 Freestyle by finishing in 26.72, which puts him less than half a second away from the qualifying mark. In addition, the 100 Free is also within reach for Kenney, as he came in less than two seconds over the 59.60 time required to advance. His 1:01.38 finish is also a personal best for him.
