A relevant musical about the common struggles in the daily life of a teenager is coming to Newcastle Middle School on March 28.
“S’Cool,” composed by Roger Emerson and Matt Cleveland, will be performed by the seventh and eighth grade choir and “portrays a day in the life of middle school students using acting and high energy songs,” according to Jan Ellis, Newcastle High School and NMS choir director.
According to the musical description on halleonard.com, the musical is a 40-minute
production that, “uses an exciting variety of musical styles to explore the feelings and frustrations experienced by contemporary teenagers.”
The performance is taking place this month to celebrate National Music In Our Schools Month.
Ellis said her students have been working hard and are excited to show the community what they are capable of.
“The students have been enthusiastic about putting this event together and would like you to come and experience it with them. No admission will be charged,” Ellis said.
The free production begins at 7 p.m. at the Crouch Auditorium, located at NHS.
