Ken Conklin has been collecting the flip tops off of cans for several years, and saving them up to take to Arizona to help a woman who wants to help others. The pop tops will be donated to a program that benefits the Ronald McDonald House, an organization that provides greater access to healthcare for children, and he hopes a few more residents will join the cause.
Conklin told the News Letter Journal that a woman he befriended in Arizona has been saving tops from aluminum beverage cans for nine years towards a goal of collecting 2,000 pounds of pop tops. A number of Ronald McDonald House locations collect the tops for recycling, generating thousands of dollars annually, and she plans on donating at a location in Los Angeles.
