Painted-rock craze comes to Newcastle

“Even if it does nothing more than to just make someone smile …, this is why #NROCKs rocks!” Lacey Sloan said.

The #NROCKS movement was started by Sloan after she found a painted rock at the Chugwater, Wyoming, rest stop. The rock had traveled to Chugwater all the way from Camano Island in Island County, Washington, roughly 1,282 miles from Chugwater.

Before this discovery, Sloan had been “racking her brain” for ideas that would bring art, family activity, community pride and positive vibes to the community and act as a way to promote Newcastle and “put us on the map.”
