Newcastle High School is teaming up with the Veteran of Foreign Wars to bring students and the community’s nearly 700 Weston County veterans together. These veterans have served in conflicts and wars that include World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
The goal of the partnership is to provide beneficial relationships between local youth and veterans while giving aid to veterans who may need some extra help.
The partnership began with the American Legion reaching out to Weston County School District No. 1 through a letter prepared by member and veteran Barry Peterson. He hoped to connect students with veterans in need of help.
