Newcastle High School had another record breaking year at the State Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Competition last weekend, as 14 students qualified for the national competition in nine different events.
“It was so awesome, but as they kept announcing them to go up on stage, I started to get a little panicky wondering how we were going to raise that much money,” laughed head FBLA advisor Alysha Engle. “Last year, we had a record 12 kids qualify, and now we’ve topped that by two!”
Competition began last Thursday at the University of Wyoming’s College of Business in Laramie, as 23 students presented in the preliminary round of the competition. When the dust settled on the day, 21 had advanced to the final round on Friday.
