After 33 years, Newcastle Christian Academy will no longer offer their faith-based education option for students in Weston County. A small student body and an inability to keep the school on financially stable footing led to the decision to close its doors.

The school, according to teacher Amanda Finley, served approximately 33 students per year for the past seven years.

A ministry of the First Christian Church, the school was established in 1984. The first teacher at the school was Walt Cline, the minister at First Christian Church; Beckie Brandt, Mike Wiles, Wendy Smith, Susan Francis and Amanda Finley followed him.
