The final week of the regular season did not go as Newcastle Dogie Soccer head coach Josh Peterson would have liked. However, after the smoke cleared from three losses there were definite positives the team will be able to take into the Regional tournament this weekend.
The week of competition began with the Dogies hosting the Torrington Trailblazers on Tuesday. The Goshen County squad seemed to overwhelm Newcastle, as they jumped out to a daunting 5-0 lead by the half.
“They are a good team and their speed was definitely a challenge for us, but I was a little disappointed with our effort,” Peterson admitted. “In the second half, it seemed like we let up, and it was the worst game we’ve played in that respect. It was like we got down and then we started just going through the motions, so that was disappointing.”
