Hoping for better weather

Despite an extended boys’ basketball season, State FBLA competition, and Mother Nature throwing barriers in the way of practice, some Dogies powered through to get their 2018 season underway last Saturday at the Chadron Indoor Meet.

Head coach Chad Ostenson took mostly sophomores and freshmen— sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers and throwers— to Nebraska for the first meet of the year, and for the jumpers, it was the first opportunity they’ve had this season to practice their craft.

“The season has been going well, but it’s hard to get everybody excited with all the snow that’s on the field,” Ostenson admitted. “And the first three weeks are always challenging with all the activities that are going on at the beginning of March.”
