Girls soccer draws record numbers

Record numbers of girls turned out as the spring soccer season got underway two weeks ago, but Mother Nature has stubbornly gotten in the way of the Lady Dogies’ preparation for their first contest this Thursday.

Winter snowfall has proven difficult to disperse, despite warm temperatures as of late, so head coach Bryce Hoffman’s squad has made do practicing indoors to try to get ready to take on the Douglas Lady Bearcats in their season opener.

“It’s been an interesting start to the soccer season since we haven’t touched a ball outdoors yet, so that’s presented an interesting challenge for us this year,” Hoffman began. “But, we have great numbers, which has created a competitive practice environment for them, and there’s some high level play going on because girls are having to compete for some spots.”
