The Lady Dogie and Dogie cross country teams were hard at it last week trying to cut times as the Conference and State meets loom ever nearer. Between the competition in Hot Springs on Tuesday and the meet in Rapid City on Friday, several runners set personal or seasonal best times, which is moving in the right direction.
However, head coach Kathy Beehler expressed concerns that times are not dropping fast enough given there are only two meets remaining in the regular season.
“The kids did run well and dropped time, but we need to be dropping time faster than we are,” she frowned. “We only have two weeks left to prepare, so we need to start dropping 20 seconds each meet in order to get where we need to be.”
