Dogies dodge a bullet against Bulldogs

Newcastle stays undefeated in East Quadrant play

The target on the Dogies’ backs continues to grow, as Newcastle remains undefeated in the East Quadrant after their relatively narrow 48-41 victory over the Wheatland Bulldogs last Friday. Though pleased that his team pulled out the win, head coach Allen Von Eye admitted that he wasn’t sure his squad put together their best game on the night.

“We know we’re going to get everybody’s best each and every game, and we have to match that,” he began. “I didn’t get the feeling that the sense of urgency was there as we went into that basketball game. I think that we went into Friday night thinking the team that we dominated two weeks ago would be the team we would see again, and that is not the case.”

The Bulldogs appeared to have prepared well for the rematch by ramping up their defense, and throwing some wrinkles that the Dogies struggled to adjust to early.
