ROBERT ‘BOB’ LEON HONEY

Dec. 2, 1969–May 17, 2021

Robert (Bob) Leon Honey, 51, of Upton, Wyo., joined our Lord in Heaven on May 17, 2021. After a hard-fought battle, he passed away of health complications from
COVID-19.

Bob was born Dec. 2, 1969, in Rawlins, Wyo., to Harold and Betty Ann (Pollat) Honey. He was raised on the family ranch south of Upton with his sisters. He attended grade school in Newcastle and graduated from Upton High School in 1988. In his younger years Bob loved football, wrestling, helping around the ranch, and spending time at the Kokesh Ranch.

He married Robyn Rene Sweet on Aug. 13, 1988. They were blessed with two sons, Tyler and Lucas.  Bob was a loving and dedicated husband and father who always worked hard to provide for his family. During his sons’ childhood years, he enjoyed attending their activities with wrestling tournaments being
a favorite.

Bob worked at Barritt’s Pallet Shop and then American Colloid during his first years after high school. He started at Black Thunder Coal Mine in 1998, and became a supervisor in 2015, remaining in that role until the time of his death.

He loved fishing, camping, classic car shows, and working on his cars in his spare time. He had recently begun hobbies in beekeeping and gardening, and his most recent joy in life was his two grandchildren, Austin and Eliza. His daughters-in-law, Katie and Lexie, say they will always remember the laughs and smiles that he brought to them and
their babies.

Survivors include his wife, Robyn; sons, Tyler (Katie), and Luke (Lexie); parents, Harold and Betty Ann; sisters, Brenda (Ed) Young, Debbie (Bruce) Shelton, and Cheryl (Rob) Steele; grandchildren, Austin Honey, and Eliza Honey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, May 21, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, S.D.

A Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24, at the Upton Community Center. His cremains will be placed at the Upton Greenwood Cemetery and the Big Horn Mountains, a favorite place of his.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Upton Volunteer Fire Department or the Upton Mat Cats.

Condolences may be sent to the family at
