Larry Dean Bock, 84, Newcastle, Wyoming, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.
 
Larry Dean Bock was born July 9, 1939, in the Accord Hospital at Newcastle to Oliver C. “Sox” Bock and Marion (Johnson) Bock. He was raised in the Weston County area, attending grade school in Osage, a year of high school in Upton, and graduating from Newcastle High School in 1958. He was a member of DeMolay International, and a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard. He attended business school in Denver, Colorado, and a mechanic school in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. 
 
He met and later married Sandra Carlson on Jan. 14, 1963, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Together they made their home in Newcastle for the next 61 years. He worked various jobs: a roustabout in the oil fields, a ranch hand, and heavy equipment operator, working for Addie Rich, Johnson, Bock & Johnson and Townsend Oil Co.
 
Larry Dean enjoyed hunting, especially elk hunting, and worked some seasons as a hunting guide. He loved guns, playing cards, and just being with family and friends. 
 
He was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease in 1976, becoming fully disabled in 1984.
 
Larry Dean was preceded in death by two children, Corey Dean Bock and Eva Marie Bock; his parents, Oliver “Sox” and Marion (Johnson) Bock; sisters, Karen Sue (Bock) Townsend (William D. Townsend III) and Nancy Lou Bock; uncle, Keith Johnson, and aunt, Marguerite (Gilbert) Johnson; grandparents, Eva Jane (Adkins) Johnson and Earl Johnson, and Gerhardt Fedrick Bock and Leta Lucetta (Mollenbrink) Bock.
 
Survivors include his wife, Sandra; son, Weston (Melissa) Bock; three grandchildren, Carson Bock, Varsity Bock, and Brittney (Derik) Via; two great-grandchildren, Carlie Kohn and Brylee Via; and brother-in-law, Richard Klinker.
 
He had a great team of family and friends that helped throughout the years. He always valued his loyal lifetime friends, LaVern Johnson and Jack Bradley Jr.
With times as rough as they are, please no food, no flowers, and no memorials. However, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Please come join us.
