The Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame has announced the 2021 roster of honorees.

Nominator Tom Fordyce and daughter Rhonda Sedgwick Stearns were notified that Violet May (Coy) Sedgwick (November 1906–May 2005) is the sole honoree for Weston County this year.

Cheyenne was selected for the site of 2021 Induction Ceremonies to be held Sept. 11 and 12 at Little America. Details of the event and information for tickets will be publicized in August. There will probably be a Region 1 (Crook, Campbell and Weston) induction in this region prior to that time, and News Letter Journal will provide timely information.

Violet was a true pioneer. Born in the Bull Mountains of Montana, at the age of 3 she made a several month trek in a covered wagon with her parents and four siblings from there
to the Ozarks of Missouri, birthplace of both her parents.

Her dad, Mike Coy, was impressed with the country he saw when they crossed the Platte River near Douglas, Wyo., on that trip.  The memory drew him back a few years later, and Violet came to live on the historic AU7 Ranch along the Cheyenne River around the age of 5. She lived the rest of her life here and made her living on Weston County ranches, horseback a lot of the time for at least 75 years.
