5 Smart Holiday Decoration Storage Tips

As we enter the fall season, we’re gearing up for the holidays and all the fun celebrations and traditions that come with them. October through January is a time of nonstop family celebrations or excuses to party with our friends. However, when it comes to decorating our homes, the thought of sorting through the storage bin can be draining.
When the holidays are over, you probably dread putting everything away, so you may not care how you store it—as long as it is out of sight. Now that it’s time to bring those same decorations out, you’re stuck with tangled lights and damaged fabrics. Here are five smart holiday decoration storage tips to help you save time and money in the long run.
Purchase Artificial Tree Storage
Having an artificial tree is a great way to save money. To keep your tree in good shape, you’ll need to store it away properly. Now, we know how time-consuming it can be to take apart an artificial tree. By shrinking wrapping your tree or purchasing a tree bag, however, you can preserve your tree without having to break it down.
Use Clear Plastic Storage Bins
When it comes to storage, large plastic bins are always your best choice. To help keep your holiday décor organized and visible, you should opt for colorful and transparent plastic storage bins. These will allow you to see what’s inside without having to dig through every box.
Wrap Lights Around Cardboard
Believe it or not, you’re not supposed to buy new holiday lights every year. Your lights are supposed to last for years without losing a fuse. Unfortunately, without proper care, they can get tangled or broken. To increase your light’s longevity and keep them secure, we recommend wrapping your lights around a thick piece of cardboard.
Label Your Storage Bins
Having color-coded plastic bins is great; labeling them is even better. Labeling your bins will allow you to separate things by holiday or occasion and be as specific as possible. Also, labeling your storage bins will save you more time when you’re putting everything away.
Invest in a Larger Storage Space
Sometimes we accumulate more items than our storage spaces can allow. Instead of purchasing a storage unit, why not get a backyard shed? You can even buy them directly from a builder to save on cost and even customize them to your liking! Investing in larger storage spaces will give you more room to store your décor and keep them from being damaged.
From October to January, we experience many weather changes and holidays in the U.S. Using these five smart holiday decoration storage tips, you can save money, time, and hassle!
