Passion is often unannounced and unexpected, and when it fell into the hands of Newcastle’s Jimmie Josephson, it came through the art of belly dancing. After two years of engaging in this historical art form, Josephson is out to expose the true nature of a dance that has been misunderstood for years.
In the Winter of 2015, Josephson’s husband Ben surprised her with a gift certificate for belly dancing classes at the Sultry Shimmy, a group located in Rapid City, SD that offers belly dance classes and has a performance troupe that exemplifies the beauty, sensuality, and empowerment of women. Even though her husband had taken notice of Josephson’s obsession with belly dancing, which she had developed nearly five years ago, her passion for dancing goes back to when she was just a little girl.
